Paper and Toner |  Refills and printer consumables

Paper can be picked up by employees from Shipping and Receiving located in the basement of the T building office T.0300 with your department’s cost center number.

Technology Support delivers paper to classroom printers and to the public/open printers in the Science Building 1st and 3rd floor and the 1st floor printer in the MEC building. Request supplies for one of these printers using the Technology Support Printer Services Request

Note: For Faculty areas, please contact the Office Administrative Assistant for printer paper supplies. 

Paper:

Paper can be picked up by employees from Shipping and Receiving located in the basement of the T building office T0300.

Bring your department cost center and a cart. Four boxes of paper is allowed at one time. 

Note: Departments are not charged for paper. The cost center is for tracking paper consumption only. 

Staples:

Fill out the Technology Support Printer Services Request and provide the serial number of the device then Technology Support will refill the staples. 

Toner:

Technology Support replaces toner campus wide. Please provide the Printer ID from the printer needing toner on your Technology Support Printer Services Request.

Replacing Toner

Note: Do not tip the toner cartridges, keep them horizontal.

  1. Shake the new toner cartridge (keeping it horizontal), approximately 5-10 times before installing it.

  2. Flip down the front panel on the printer

  3. Turn the empty cartridge counter clockwise and slide it out and place it in the box the new toner came in.

  4. Ensure the toner cartridges match before installing the new one.

  5. Slide in the new toner cartridge and lock it in place, turning it clockwise. 

  6. Deliver the empty toner to Technology Services in T3302.

 

Toner Spills

  1. Contact ITS Technology Support and Report an Incident (link in text) to report the spill, please note the location and serial number of the device so we can contact Marco for cleanup.

 

Do not attempt to clean up the toner spill with water or any other liquid, do not attempt to sweep or brush off toner that has spilled on surfaces. (caution symbol at the front)

 

  1. Contact Facilities to cordon off the spilled area so others can be informed to avoid the area, if you cannot contact Facilities, let IT know in your report.

  2. Contact Technology Support and Report an Incident so IT can get a Marco Technician out to finish the toner spill cleanup. 

Toner Waste Containers

Please report full toner waste containers to Technology Support. IT will place a service call to Marco to send a technician to empty the full toner waste container so it may be re-used. Be sure to leave the toner waste container near the printer so the Marco tech is able to easily locate it. Technology Support Printer Services Request

Printer jams

Follow the instructions on the touch screen panel to remove the paper jam. If you are unable to locate or clear the jam please contact Technology Support and Report an Incident at technology.minneapolis.edu.

Make sure the paper tray is not over filled with paper. 

Troubleshooting printer or touch screen panel issues 

Flip down the panel down on the front of the printer and on the left side is the power button with an orange circle around it, power the printer off and then on again. If this does not resolve your issue please contact Technology Support and Report an Incident at technology.minneapolis.edu.
