Unclaimed Property
What is unclaimed property?
Unclaimed Property is a term used when an organization holds your financial property but has not had contact with you for a number of years. Two common types of unclaimed property are un-cashed checks and unclaimed wages. MN State Statute 16A.45 requires that uncashed checks be turned over to the MN Department of Commerce for safe-keeping after so many years.
If you have a question regarding an Minneapolis College check issued to you - please feel free to submit a request via the Ask A Question link below.
NOTE: Unclaimed Property is different than Unclaimed Financial Aid. If you do not claim your financial aid payment (accept an electronic payment or cash a paper check), Minneapolis College is required to return the financial aid back to the US Department of Education (vs. reporting the payments to the MN Department of Commerce).
