Going passwordless refers to removing your password and using a passwordless method to sign in. It’s simple, fast, secure.

Passwordless solutions such as the Microsoft Authenticator app and SMS or Email codes provide a more secure and convenient sign-in method. While passwords can be guessed, stolen, or phished, only you can provide the right response on your mobile device at the right time.

 

  1. Before removing your password, you'll need to download and install the Microsoft Authenticator app from your phone’s app store.

  2. Goto aka.ms/mfasetup to add a sign-in method choosing the Microsoft Authenticator app with the “Authenticator app or hardware token - code” option and follow the prompts for adding.

  1. You will need to choose the Authenticator app as the Default sign-in method from the drop down.

  1. The next time you go to sign-in using your [StarID]@go.minnstate.edu or [StarID]@minnstate.edu and the password sign in box presents be sure to choose the Use an app instead

Once everything is setup, entering your user login StarID@go.minnstate.edu or StarID@minnstate.edu will present two numbers to match on your mobile device.
