Bookmarks in Firefox - Backup and Restore

Export Bookmarks

  1. Access Bookmarks from the toolbar menu in the top left corner of the browser and click Manage Bookmarks.

     

  2. Click Import and Backup and then choose Import bookmarks from HTML if you would like to import already saved bookmarks, or Export Bookmarks to HTML if you would like to backup your bookmarks.

     

  3. A dialog box will appear, choose a location you can access from any computer such as your OneDrive folder. It is not recommended to change to the name of the file, save it with the name bookmarks.html.

     

  4.  Your bookmarks are now successfully exported from Firefox. Use the exported file to backup your bookmarks or import them into a another browser session or computer. The bookmarks HTML file you saved is now ready to be imported into another Firefox browser (on a new computer, for example).  To import these bookmarks, follow the same instructions, but choose Import Bookmarks from HTML… and browse for the saved file you created.

Import Bookmarks

  1. Access Bookmarks from the toolbar menu in the top left corner of the browser and click Manage Bookmarks.

  2. Click Import and Backup and then choose Import bookmarks from HTML if you would like to import already saved bookmarks, or Export Bookmarks to HTML if you would like to backup your bookmarks.

     

  3. Locate the bookmarks file that was exported previously. It can be any .html bookmark file from any browser.

  4. A new folder called Bookmarks bar will be created, you will need to select it and highlight all the bookmarks in the window on the right and then drag and drop the bookmarks to the bookmark toolbar.
    Use Shift + Click to highlight all the bookmarks.
