Bookmarks in Google Chrome - backup and restore

Instructions

This is for Minneapolis employees using campus machines. Student machines do not have this option enabled. Personal devices have the option to sign in and sync. This option has been disabled on campus computers. 

  1.  Click the 3 vertical dots in the upper right hand corner of Chrome



  2. Navigate to Bookmarks > Bookmark Manager Keyboard shortcut: Ctrl+Shift+O




  3. Click the 3 vertical dots in the upper right hand corner on the blue navigation bar and click Export bookmarks





  4. Choose a location you can access from any computer, either your OneDrive for Business folder or your H drive. It is not recommended to change to the name of the file, save it with the default name. 





  5. Your bookmarks are now successfully exported from Chrome. Use the exported file to backup your bookmarks or import them into a another browser session or computer. The bookmarks HTML file you saved is now ready to be imported into another Chrome browser (on a new computer, for example).  To import these bookmarks, follow the same instructions, but choose Import bookmarks and browse for the saved file you created.
