Copilot in Edge (Browsers)

Copilot AI is now available to all employees and students, Microsoft’s generative chat AI tool. Minnesota State recommends the use of this AI tool for work/school because it is more secure, and the data is protected as opposed to being logged into Chat GPT or other similar AI tools. Copilot is a powerful tool that can help with work such as drafting emails, creating templates, summarizing and analyzing text and data. Using Copilot for work or education

Copilot with commercial data protection is available to students and employees with any license type in the M365 Shared Tenant. Users must sign in to Copilot with their Microsoft 365 account (StarID@minnstate.edu or StarID@go.minnstate.edu) to benefit from the data protection technology.

Not available to all employees is the Windows Copilot/M365 Copilot. Microsoft Copilot for Microsoft 365 is a comprehensive AI assistant that ties together the Windows Operating System together with all of the Microsoft 365 applications like Teams, Outlook, and Word.

For Microsoft Edge on a personal device set up your work/school account (StarID@minnstate.edu or starID@go.minnstate.edu)

 

Try Copilot in Chrome and Firefox by going to copilot.microsoft.com then sign in using your (StarID@minnstate.edu or starID@go.minnstate.edu) to ensure your data is protected.

Bing App vs Copilot

The Bing Search app is available on Android and iOS and already has Copilot integrated, allowing users to enhance their search engine experience. It was designed to search the web first and talk to the AI chatbot later. As such, the app feels a bit cluttered at times, as it is not a standalone application for an AI chatbot.

Similar to Chat GPT, the Copilot app emphasizes seamless interaction between users and AI. However, be sure to login with your work or school account to benefit from the data protection technology.
