VPN - Setting Up Access

ITS needs your supervisor to provide written approval for VPN access.

Install and use Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client

  1. Navigate to the Software Center for Windows or Self Service for macOS.

  2. Install Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client from there.

     

  3. Launch Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client by clicking on the Start Menu and typing Cisco AnyConnect (Windows), or clicking on the magnifying glass in the upper right-hand corner and typing Cisco AnyConnect (macOS).

     

  4. When the window opens, type remote.minneapolis.edu into the box, as indicated below, and click Connect.

  5. Once you click connect, the following window will appear. 
    Enter your StarID and your StarID password, then click OK.

  6. Once connected you will see the following icons in your system tray (Windows, lower right-hand corner) or the menu bar (macOS, upper right-hand corner).

For security reasons the VPN auto disconnects after 8 hours. Connect again as needed.
