Overview of features
Create folders or documents just like on your computer but they will be in the cloud not in your physical hard drive.
One Drive is accessible from anywhere with internet access; similar to Dropbox or Google Drive.
Share documents with others by changing permissions levels.
Create Word docs, Excel spreadsheets and powerpoint presentations.
These documents are automatically saved as they are created and edited
Work simultaneously on a shared document with multiple people
Easily access your OneDrive, Minneapolis College email, SharePoint and Office 365 applications from one place.
Access OneDrive
You can access OneDrive through your browser, mobile device or using the Microsoft 365 app.
Log into Microsoft 365 through your Minneapolis College email account.
Students: Use your StarID@go.minnstate.edu and your StarID password.
Employees: Use your StarID@minnstate.edu and your StarID password.

Logging into your Minneapolis College Employee EmailClick on the app launcher (the 3x3 grid) in the top left corner. That is where you can access all the web versions of the Microsoft 365 apps.
Select One Drive from the list of applications
The applications listed may differ depending on if you are an Minneapolis College Student or an Minneapolis College employee. Navigate to other applications by going back to this menu anytime.

Create a New File or Folder
From the web app
Click New to create folders or documents directly from the OneDrive web app
Create a file from the Microsoft 365 app and save it to OneDrive
Upload a file
You can drag and drop files or use the upload feature.
You can upload whole folders if you use the Chrome browser
Upload files from the local machine on a PC.
You can transfer folders over using Google Chrome.
Any other browser you can only transfer single files over.
You cannot upload any files that have a special character in the file name.
Examples of special characters that cannot be included in file names.

You can also transfer files from your computer, or network drives by simply dragging and dropping. If you are using Google Chrome, you can upload, or drag and drop whole folders.
Sorting Files and Folders
Choose how you want to sort your files
Highlight a folder or a document to bring up a new toolbar with options for the selected file or folder.
You can also right click on a highlighted file or folder, or use the ... ellipsis to bring up these same options
The online version allows you to edit a document right in the browser. It document will auto Save as you edit it.
Think of it as a lite version of that application.
Opening a document in Word, Excel, PowerPoint or OneNote will open the desktop client version of that application which is downloaded on the local machine. It will be the full version with more editing options.
Sharing a document
You can give people access to a document or folder using a link
Each document will have a unique link that you can share will people, either by posting it in a universal
place for many people to access or sending it in an email.
Use the drop down menu to choose access level and restrictions.
Saving a File from the client version of an application to OneDrive for Business
Using Microsoft Word as an example, but it will work the same with the other applications as well, such as PowerPoint and Excel.
In your Word document, click on File located in the upper left corner.
When Saving the file make sure that you select One Drive - MNSCU. You should also see your StarID@Minnstate.edu (employees) or your StarID@go.minnstate.edu (students).
Recent folders and documents appear on the right.
