StarID Information

What is a StarID?

The StarID is a username that replaces many login IDs with one ID, one password, everywhere. Once you activate it, you can use your StarID and password anywhere that accepts StarID. Instead of a separate login at each college or university, you can use the same StarID across Minnesota State. Change your password in one place — starid.minnstate.edu — and it will change everywhere.

The StarID format is always two letters, four numbers, and two letters, e.g. "ab1234cd".

StarID Self Service Website

starid.minnstate.edu

  • The StarID Self Service website is place to reset your StarID password, look up your StarID and set your primary email if you multiple emails from different Minnesota State Colleges and Universities.

  • IT cannot reset passwords for you, but please contact us if you need assistance with the process.

  • Be sure to set your preferred StarID notification email.

  • Update your personal email address in eServices under Account Management > Demographic Info. Your personal email address can be used as a way to reset your StarID password.

Facts about your StarID

  • Your StarID password will expire and need to be reset every 180 days (6 months).

  • A reminder email will be send out 21 days, 14 days and 7 days in advance to your preferred notification email.

  • Your StarID password is the same password for your college email but a password reset can take up to 4 hours to work with your email.

  • Your StarID password is also your college password and is used for D2L, Navigate, the computer logs in on campus, eServices, and more.
